AbstractThe internationalcommunityhasgainedanincreasing understanding aboutChinaalong withitsinternationalrisingstatusbothintheinternationalaffairsandintheeconomicworld. TheEnglishtranslationofChinesepoliticaldocumentshasbecomeaverycrucialchannelfor theoutsidepublicity.ThecurrentresearchesontheEnglish-translationofpoliticaldocuments arefarfromsatisfactioninthesensethataworkingtheoreticalframeworkforthetranslating isstilltobeinvestigated.Therefore,atheoreticalconsiderationintotheEnglish-translationof political documentsis great of significance.ThethesishasexploredtheEnglish-translationofpoliticaldocumentsunderNord’s functionalisttheorywiththeReportontheWorkoftheGovernmentin2011asthecasestudy. ItaimsatjustifyingthefeasibilityofNord’smodelforthetranslationofpoliticaldocuments andatthesametime,workingoutsolutionstothetranslationproblemssoastoimprovethe translation qualityofpoliticaldocuments.Thethesis has addressed thetranslational problems from thethreekeyaspects of Nord’stheory,namely:“translationbrief”,“source-textanalysis”,and“identifytranslational problems”,whicharethemostimportantandneededthreeaspectswhentakingatranslation task.Thepurposefortheanalysisinthesethreeaspectsistoidentifytheobjective translationaldifficulties.Thecomparinganalysisbetweenthesourcetextandtargettextwill becarriedoutinthewholepaper.Ithasaddressedthepragmatic,cultural,linguisticand text-specifictranslationalproblemsandhasexploredthespecifictranslationproceduresfor theChinese-to-Englishtranslationofpoliticaldocuments.Wemaintainthatthetranslationof politicaldocumentisdocumentarytranslationandits’maintextfunctionisinformative.Itis requiredthatthetranslatorshouldhaveastrongsenseofpoliticsandshouldtakefaithfulness andfluency intofullaccount.Intranslating,thetranslatorshouldpayattentiontothepolitical backgroundknowledgeandtheaccurateunderstandingofpoliticalissues.Atthesametime, theacceptabilityofthetargettextalsoshouldbetakenintoaccount.Theproposedspecific translationproceduresincludeliteraltransla
