sociolinguisticsmaybemoresensitive,thewriterdividesthesubjectsintothe professionalandunprofessionalgroups,30membersineachgroup.Theprofessional groupconsistsofthegraduatestudentswhohavebeentaughtsociolinguisticswhile the unprofessional groups involve the people chosen randomly.WiththehelpofSPSS,thisthesisexplorestherelevancedegreebetween languageformsandsocialfactors.Inconcrete,theexperimenttriestofindoutif speakers’genderandagecanberecognizedthroughtheirlanguageusesbyanalyzing the confidence intervals of the data collected.Thestatisticsshowthatthereare17questionsintheprofessionalgroupand14 questionsinthenon-professionalgroupwhichgetthelowerboundsmorethan0.5. Butasfarasageisconcerned,theresultisnotoptimistic.Noquestionsinthe professionalgroupobtainthevalueofthelowerboundsover0.5,whileinthe non-professionalgroup,only3questionsover0.5.Thetotalcorrectanswersare621 and585inthetwogroupsrespectively.Sotheconfidenceintervalsare(0.225,0.575) fortheprofessionalgroupand(0.288,0.645)[0]forthenon-professional group. Basedonthedataanalysis,wecanprovethatgendercanberecognizedthroughone’s language uses but it is difficult to work out the age of a language user.Itisalsofoundthatwhenpeopleguessthesocialbackgroundinformationabout thelanguageusers,thetraditionalvaluesheldbythepeopleinfluencethepeople’s judgment greatly.Thepaperconsistsoffivechapters. Thefirstchapterintroducestheorigin, significanceandpurposeof theresearch,andsummarizestheoutlineof thepaper. The secondchaptergivesanoverviewoftheformalachievementsdomesticallyand abroad.Thethirdchapterelaboratesthemethodologyoftheresearch,includingthe questionnairedesign,thechoiceofthesubjects,thereleaseandcollectionofthe questionnaire,etc.Thefourthchapteranalyzesthecollecteddataanddiscussesthe results.Thefifthchapterdrawsaconclusion,pointsoutthemainfindings,limitations of the research as well as suggestions for further study.Key words: BBS, language uses, gender, age, confidence interval, genderdiscrimination.List of tablesTables:Table2.
