Ladies and gentlemen. Today my topic is reading.----the properties of water. Now allow me to introduce the first part: Ⅰ. Analysis of the teaching materials: The importance of this lesson This lesson is a reading passage. It plays a very important role in English teaching of this unit because we should lay particular emphasis on the students’ reading ability in English teaching. Teaching contents Get the students to learn some basic knowledge about water. Then try to attract their attention by introducing the water molecule. Use the sentence in the passage---The water molecule is made up of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom. Let the students to comprehend the passage better through Task—based learning and Cooperative learning. Through teaching, the students can learn the chemical structure, salinity, density, heat capacity and ocean motion. The important and difficult points in this lesson: Some knowledge about water. To improve the students’ reading ability in predicting, skimming and summarizing.. Get the students to master some new words and expressions. Ⅱ. Teaching aims: Knowledge aim: by the end of the lesson, students will have a better understanding of the meaning and structure of the text. Ability aims: Get the students to use their own words to retell the story.Improve the reading skills and use English to express one’s ideas Moral education aims: Tell the students to protect and use water wisely.
