Teaching aids: a tape recorder and some pictures Teaching methods: Discussion and communication. Teaching procedures: Step 1Revision lead-in. Show some pictures to talk about common weather. Step 2 Presentation of the comic strip 1.To present the comic strip by listening to the record. 2.To do an exercise according to the comic strip. 3.To practice the past continuous tense. Step 3 Presentation of bad weather To present four kinds of bad weather on page 93 by showing some pictures. Teach the new words and get the students to complete the exercise in part B. Step 4 Presentation of natural disasters. To show some pictures to present natural disasters in two ways. To consolidate how to name the natural disasters by playing games. Step 5 Presentation exercises To present the differences between natural disasters and accidents. Then get the students to do the exercises in Part A. (To tell whether they are accidents or natural disasters.) Step 6 Presentation description 1.To present how to describe a natural disaster by setting an example. 2.To show four pictures about four natural disasters. 3.To have a discussion in groups. 4.To describe one of the four natural disasters after the discussion.
