Show the pictures of Jackey Chen, Kobe Brayant, Shen Xue and Zhao Hongbo. Ask questions:Do you know them?What are they successful in?Do you know any famous people in your life? Check individually. Answer the teachers questions and say some famous people including Lang Lang and tell some information about him. With pictures’ help, ask and answer. Pre-reading To encourage the Ss to use the new words to fill in the blank (This exercise is based on how to use the vocabulary) Ask the Ss to preview the words and try to remember the words. Word competition: the words are used in some sentences using in the context. vocabulary development Teach the students to read the new words. Ss fill the words in the blank by understanding the whole sentence. Develop more usage of the word. And Ss learn to read the new words. PPT: Sentences with pictures’ help. While-reading After reading Ss get a general idea of the whole passage and understand some details of the article. 1.Fast reading: Ss read the passage as fast as they can and try to find out the answers to A1. 2.Read it again and check the answers to A1. 3.Reading for details and try to fill in the blanks in A3. Ss discuss in pairs and finish A3. Check the answers with the class. 1. Ss finish A1 individually. 2. Have a discussion in groups after finishing. 3. Check the answers. PPT Learning plan of the Ss. Post-reading Ss can retell the passage by filling in the blank without book’s help and try to make a short oral passage by telling their ideas of the successful people they like to talk about.
