Consequently the negative value zone of the groundwater table was formed in coastal areas, which leads to seawater intrusion and seriously affects the economy and environment in the coastal region. The paper takes Shouguang city for example. By analyzing and investigating the current situation, dynamic characteristics, development of water resources and utilization of regional geological conditions and the structure features of the strata, using the method of comprehensive and data analysis, the paper investigates the characteristics and laws of seawater intrusion and discusses the factors which affect the seawater intrusion in Shouguang city. What,s more, the paper comes up with the measures to prevent seawatre intrusion. The author conclude that the groundwater extra-exploitation is the fundamental factor among numerous factors. And the natural influence including drought for years and the penetrable stratigraphy is the key factors to aggravate seawater intrusion.
