Scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer (EDS) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were used to analyze the surface morphology, microstructure, cross sectional element distributions and phase constitution of the coating. Corrosion resistance of P110 steel and chromizing coating in simulated oilfield stratum water was monitored using electrochemical techniques. Additionally the variations on the surface morphologies of the samples before and after potentiodynamic polarization were examined by SEM. The results show that uniform and continuous coating is obtained on P110 steel, the coating consists of Cr C and doped with minor Cr N. Chromizing coating exhibits higher open circuit potential and lower current density as compared x y 2 with P110 steel. According to the observations by SEM, P110 steel suffered serious corrosion and the coating is slightly corroded. Taken as a whole, the chromizing coating provides promising protection to P110 steel in simulated oilfield stratum water. Key words: chromizing; P110 steel; electrochemical; corrosion The sustainable
