All three stories attempt to teach us something about people and how they react in certain circumstances. The first passage tells the true story of a man driven by greed to live out a fantasy. The next passage, a piece of fiction, describes the exploits of a secret agent. The last passage shows us how a group of people sometimes behave when faced with a dangerous situation that does not force them, as individuals, to help.
