Then the paper illustrates several important plans for use transformation in Hamburg-the“Pearlnecklet”, the Inner port in Harburg, Seaport City and the“Big Jump over the river Elbe”. With the moving and closure of enterprises the inner port of Duisburg came into industry wastelands. Because of the international Architectural Fair in Ruhr area - Emscher Park from 1989 to 1999 the city Duisburg got new developing chance. Now the recovery of inner port area and its combination with the city become one of the best examples of the structural transformation and sustainable development of cities in the Ruhr area.
