Potter believes that every enterprise is a collection of activities in the process of designing, producing, selling, sending and assisting its products. All of these activities can be illustrated in a value chain. Enterprise value creation is constituted by basic activities and auxiliary activities, basic activities including internal logistics, production operation, external logistics, marketing and sales, service and so on; and the supporting activities including purchasing, technology development, human resource management and enterprise infrastructure. These different but interrelated production activities constitute a dynamic process of value creation, that is, value chain. Potter put the value of the work breakdown in order to win the competition of building blocks form, not only to study the performance of these bricks respectively, and analysis of bricks in space combined with each other, in other words, the key value chain cost control is the connection between the part of the value chain. Value chain connection is divided into two categories according to whether they exceed their own activities: internal connection and vertical connection.
