Its aim is to provide direction to structural engineers on the mechanical and dimensional properties of threaded bars. Prof. Fernando has a BSc Eng (Hon) from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka and a PhD in Aerodynamics and Thermodynamics from the University of British Columbia, Canada. Prof. Fernando is an internationally recognised fastener expert and innovator through his extensive research and publications in fastener and manufacturing engineering. He has authored over twenty patented products and processes. Before being appointed to Swinburne University of Technology in 2012, he worked as Engineering, Research, Development and Innovations Manager for Ajax Engineered Fasteners.
