This has led to the Linked Data Web. Based on RDF and Semantic Web technologies Linked Data Location • Many applications can use linked data without a map service: “is may house affected by flooding”, “what price was paid for these properties” etc • Imagine that a user could click on some general information eg a railways timetable and the location of the stations was returned (as a map service) consider also using the map as an interface to all kinds of information linked across the web to a given spatial object. • The demonstrator that follows is a very early view of how the map can be used to retrieve data about a spatial objects. In the case over these are “administrative areas* and they have been linked to associated (non-spatial information). By clickign on the object the URI of the associated data are returned. *Keen geographers will note that the last example “City of Southampton” does not relate to the map on the screen!
