Methods quantitative RT-PCR was used to detect the expression of WT1 and mRNA in peripheral blood or bone marrow mononuclear cells. Results among 50 cases of leukemia, the expression of WT1 and mRNA increased in 41 cases, and the positive rate was 82%. Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) positive rates were 84% and 93.8%, there was no significant difference between the two groups (P0.05), chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) WT1 mRNA positive rate was 66.7%, of which the chronic phase were negative, accelerated and blastic phase were positive. Of the 17 patients with complete remission, 15 patients (85.2%) had WT1 mRNA negative, and WT1 and mRNA increased again in patients with recurrence. Conclusion the expression of WT1 and mRNA is important for the detection of minimal residual disease of leukemia.
