In this paper, the basic theory of two single phase rectifier type high temperature superconducting fault current limiters is introduced. An improved double-bridge rectifier type high temperature superconducting fault current limiter is presented aiming at DC bias power supply of rectifier bridge. The operating theory of improved fault current limiter is discussed deeply. The effect of parameter variety of improved fault current limiter is analyzed for limiting fault current characteristic of fault current limiter, including critical current, action current and superconducting coil inductance. The better effect of limiting fault current of improved fault current limiter is verified by simulation and experiment. The problem of DC bias power
