Unit 12 At the Office
Teaching Objectives
To develop the students’ listening skill.
To train the students’ ability to grasp the knowledge about how to deal with routine office work and remember some useful expressions about OA (Office Automation).
To give the students more chances to talk about something in relation to what they have heard on the tape.
To develop the students speaking skill.
The important and difficult points
To familiarize the students with how to use the language they learn to practice the activities in relation to routine office work and office automation.
Teaching Time
4课时(180分钟)
Teaching steps:
Lead-in
1) Ask the students to discuss the lead-in activity in their books.
Part A Part B
2) Give the students some pictures or the real things in relation to the new words and expressions in this unit.
The important words and the phrases:
Personnel Department; Accounting Department; Export Department; printing paper;
carbon paper; office supplies; staple; stapler; process document; rough draft;
floppy disk, rough draft; process document; double space; typewriter;
copying machine; fax machine; computer.
12-1 Office Supplies
This part is designed to make the students learn how to deal with routine office work and grasp the terms related to office automation.
1. Pre-listening tasks
Ask the students to match the words with the right pictures.

2. While-listening tasks
1) Ask the students to read the statements in the first exercise and make guesses about what the conversation is talking about before they listen to the dialogue.
2) Play the dialogue once and let the students get the main idea of the material. And then the teacher explains the difficult language points.
3) Play the dialogue twice and let the students do Task 1 2.
