A Study of Honesty Culture differences Between the East and the West 08英语师范 许雅婵 指导老师：余健 Presentation: Good morining. Let me make a brief instroduction about my paper to you. My paper’s title is A Study of Honesty Culture differences Between the East and the West. In modern life, Honesty plays an important role in evaluating people’s morality. Even sometimes it can have a very deep effect on a people’s social statute and lifework. Different areas or countries define “honesty” and treat the problems of “honesty” with different ways. Chinese traditional honesty shows the characterristics of personality, emotion, and obligation. However, the western honesty relys on rationality, contracts, and legislation. On my paper, I elaborates the honesty differences between the east and the west mainly from three aspects. In the first part of my paper, I analize briefly about the features of Chinese traditional honesty, which rely on the personality of the moral subject, regard the emotion of the moral subject as the standard, and treat the obligations of the moral subject as the basic. In the second part of my paper, I study the content of westen honesty ideology, which includes the rational basis for the subjuct, the rules and contract for features, and the law as the foundation. In the third part of my paper, I compare the honesty culture differences between the east and west. At last, I make a simple conclusion that under the socialist market economy, we should realize the interaction, integrity, and communication of the easten and westen honesty culture, in order to establish a modern honesty culture that can suit the developing requirements of socialist market economy.
