Institute of Mechanics, ChineseAcade y of Sciences, Beijing 100080, China) Abstract: The dry tree syste has advantages in efficient drilling andworkover convenience, low operation cost, short downti e andfavorable flow assurance. The application of the dry tree syste has strict restriction in heave response so that only Spars andTLPs are ableto incorpo- rate. Co paring with Spars andTLPs, se isub ersibleproduction platfor s have large payload, are ableto quayside integration and tow-out integrally, and are not constrained bywater depth. In such circu stance, the designers have been trying to decrease the heave a plitude of se isub ersibles to ake the ableto support dry tree syste . This paper introduces several dry tree se isub ersible production platfor s in the exploration of deepwater oil and gas resources, reviews these novel se isub ersibles in aspects of configuration, installation and hydrody- na ic perfor ance, and su arizes both the technical trends and subsequent proble s. Finally, develop ent goals and critical issues of de- veloping novel se isub ersibleproduction platfor s for China are proposed.
