Comparison of Power Distance between Chinese Culture and American Culture —— A Case Study of the Wedding Banquet Abstract: This paper compares the differences of power distance between China and America through studying the case of The Wedding Banquet. Moreover, it describes the phenomena of power distance in reality in terms of paternalism, workplace relations and relations between teachers and students in both countries. In addiction, the different reasons why power distance came into being respectively in China and America are illustrated in the later part of this paper. And finally it provides several solutions to the communication barriers incurred by such difference.
