Key words: oral English level Improve English teaching I、Introduction People communicate mainly through two forms:oral and written. No matter in terms of language development or the nature of language learning, or the perspective of the functions of language, spoken English should be prior . Speaking is a way to use language to express ideas and oral communication ability. Therefore, oral English ability is one of the most important aspects in English teaching . If Learning a language is only to read and write , but don’t understand and say, then using the language communication will be restricted. Although learning well, you cant get rid of the defects of deaf, and will not achieve the desired communicative purpose. While Chinese college students oral English level is generally low, and even has a sense of fear on oral English. How to improve students oral English level, has become the emphasis and difficulty in college English teaching . II、The main reasons for the college students oral English is weak There are several reasons that lead to college students oral English is weak, external factors and internal factors. 1、Objectively, students lack of chance to practice spoken English and have no language environment. Students practice mainly oral English in English class and Foreign teachers lesson . The main focus, however, the Chinese and foreign teachers in English class is on reading, writing, grammar and listening.
