Associate Architect: Local Design Institute Project Date: 2004.02 Project team: PJAR ASIA The Taiyanghu Village Master Plan is the creation of a 6,300,000 mu high-end residential and commercial area on the Taihu Lake, one hour southwest of Shanghai. The proximity to Shanghai makes this area an ideal vacation retreat. Because of its power and distinctly shaped rays, the sun was chosen to represent this development. To take advantage of this ideal location by the lake, each home was provided direct access to the water via the canals formed from the sun’s winding rays. Since there is a vast area with alot of homes, parks were introduced on the interior of the “fingers” in order to add to a feel of individual communities. Also, the inner portion of the sun was established as a central commercial area with a market and public service areas.
