Its purpose is to seek stability, security and prosperity in the Asia-Pacific region. APEC carries out work in three main areas: trade and investment liberalization, business facilitation, and economic and technical cooperation.APEC目前有21个成员，大部分成员地处太平洋沿岸。APEC成员拥有世界上约40%的人口、54%的全球国内生产总值和约44%的全球贸易。APEC currently has 21 members, including most with a coastline on the Pacific Ocean.
