Extraction 1. The purpose of the experiment required. Principles and methods of learning Extraction and purification of compounds. Master the use of separatory funnel, understand the principles of solvent extraction choice. 2. Experimental principle. The solubility of the organic substance in the organic solvent is generally higher than the solubility in water. So ,they can be extracted from water. At a certain temperature, the distribution of a substance between two immiscible solvent ratio is a constant.（CA/CB=K） With the same solvent to extraction with a small amount of times, the extraction efficiency is higher than once. 3 Laboratory instruments and reagents. Laboratory instruments: separatory funnel,Erlenmeyer flask,Beaker,Beaker,Furnace, Graduated cylinder,Distillation flask,Distillation head,Straight condenser, Adapter,Lift,Hose,Formwork units,Wire-gauze,Thermometer. Reagents:5%Aqueous solution of phenol,Ethyl acetate,2%Aqueous solution of ferric chloride,Anhydrous magnesium chloride. 4 Instrument Extraction Distill 5 Experimental procedure and phenomena Added 20 ml of aqueous solution of phenol and 10 ml of ethyl acetate in a separatory funnel.Shock and deflated, repeat 2-3 times.Standing for some time.The solution was divided into two layers.Separating the organic layer and the aqueous layer. The organic layer was extracted as described above. Combined the twice organic layer,dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, and allowed to stand for 20 minutes, distill the dried solution by bath , recycled the ethyl acetate to get the phenol product.The product was colorless and transparent. Production calculation product:0.8g Theoretical yield:1.0g Yield: 0.8/1.0×100%=80% 7.Considerations (1)Before using separatory funnel to check for leaks. (2)When heated in water bath to control the temperature does not exceed 45 degrees Celsius.
