EnvironmentalM onitoring Station ofX inyang City, Xinyang 464000, China; ) A bstract: According to the monitoring data of air pollutants including inhalable particulates, sulphur dioxide and nitro- gen dioxide inX inyang city in the period of2005~ 2008, current evaluation on atmospheric environmentalquality and the ambient air quality was forecast by the grey system GM ( 1, 1)model. The results show that atmospheric environmental quality was fine. Inhalable particulates has become predom inant pollutant which influences atmospheric environmental quality ofX inyang city. The results of short- term forecast show that concentrates of inhalable particulates and sulphur dioxide in the atmosphere ofX inyang city willdecline by the grey system GM ( 1, 1)model, but concentrate of nitrogen di- ox idew ill rise in the future.
