The resu lts show ed that the uniform ity of the flue gas d istribut ion on m on ito r section of origina l rectangular gas duct w as very bad. The com par ison bewt een num erica l smi ulat ion va l ues and expermi enta l results indicated tha t the trend o f velocity distribution w as quite co inc ident. By altering configuration param eters in rectangular gas duct of e lectrostatic precipitator, such as the number, size and posi t ion of flow guides, the re lative d ifference of air quant ity could be descended to 22% . In th is case, the m ean square root va lues of the gas velocity distribution w ere less than 02. Therefore, the flue gas d istribut ion of th is opt mi ized rectangu lar duct w asm ore unifo rm than that o f the orig ina l rectangu lar duct.
