Results showed that there existed ge otype differe ce o the effects of soil moisture o aere chyma formatio a d sclere chyma tous cell shape of rice roots amo g differe t cultivars. U der i u datory co ditio aere chyma i hybrid japo ica root occurred latest withi these five ge otypes. Cortex sclere chymatous cells i co ve tio al i dica root were obviously dif fere t from those i co ve tio al japo ica root i terms of morphological traits. These cells i co ve tio al japo ica root arrayed tightly a d cell walls lig ified to a great exte t. Whereas those i co ve tio al i dica root formed loosely a d cell walls lig ified less. U der aerobic co ditio , the formatio of root aere chyma of upla d rice was the latest amo g five rice ge otypes. A d cortex sclere chymatous cells i co ve tio al japo ica root arra ged loosely. Compared with i u da tory co ditio , aerobic co ditio retarded the formatio of aere chyma of hybrid rice roots a d made the cortex scle re chymatous cells array loosely i co ve tio al japo ica root.
