School of Mechanical Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai 200030, China) Abstract: T he cooling bender w it h a f lexural hinge- based framework is researched to reduce the cryst al thermal distortion. T he types and their principles of t he cryst al thermal distort ion are introduced, and t he mechanical forces and cooling bender st ruct ure are analyzed w ith t he f init e element method. T he result s show t hat t he bender can great ly cut dow n t he t hermal distort ion of t he first crystal, the crystal surface er- 2 ror is only 0. 04 Lrad n 3 Lrad at t he peak pow er density of 5 N/ mm , w hich is much low er t han t he design requirement t o the beam line in synchrotron radiat ion . Such kind of bender especially f it s in high- heat load, and it is one of the key techniques to solve t he problems in developing the third g enerat ion of synchrot ron radiat ion light source.
