Context is the key factor in translation. Proper translation bases on accurate understanding of context. In the article, the relationship between linguistic context and non-linguistic context and translation will be analyzed. The factors of text structure belonged to linguistic context, and cultural and situational factors belonged to non-linguistic context play important role in translation. Owing to the influence of context to translation, two main translation strategies—literal translation and free translation have been developed. Key words: cont
