The endocrine glands belong to the bodys control system. The major endocrine glands include the hypothalamus, pituitary gland, pancreas, ovaries, testes, thyroid gland, parathyroid gland, and adrenal glands. The hypothalamus and pituitary gland are neuroendocrine organs, which control all endocrine systems. The hormones which they produce help to regulate the functions of cells and tissues throughout the body. For example, thyroid hormone (TH) increases the rate of cellular metabolism.
