The unification also contributed to the north and south of cultures’ communication, which led literati painting to an excellent time. And gradually , literati painting became the mainstream. During the early Yuan dynasty, an important figure in Chinese literati painting must mention was Zhao Mengfu, who was a distinguished painting master. Meanwhile he also attended high achievement in calligraphy, painting, poetry and music. Zhao Mengfu’s painting was profound ,and no one in his time compared to him when it came to painting of landscapes, figures, pommel horse , etc. people reviewed him as Yuan’s crown in painting. In the development of literati painting , Wang Shizhen in the Ming dynasty said: literati painting was start by Su Dongpo, promoted by Zhao, It is a great recognition of his contribution to the development of literati painting . He s idea of literati painting such as the ancient meaning of the painting , Nature as Teacher , Painting and Calligraphy had a profound influence on the development of Chinese literati painting , which was a scholar in the history of painting.
