With the rapid development of economy and the swift advance of science and technology, medical translation (an important branch of EST) witnesses a hyper growth. On the basis of Nida’s Functional Equivalence Theory, this thesis tentatively probes into the translation of medical English. Firstly, this thesis briefly introduces the concept, significance and historical development of medical English. Secondly, starting with the divergence of language and stylistics, the thesis elaborates on the stylistic features of medical English by a large number of medical translation examples. Then, the thesis deals with the theory of functional equivalence and its application to medical English translation. In the end, the author gives a brief conclusion and proposes two basic criteria for medical translation. Throughout the thesis, stress is laid on the application of t
