First w e use dichotom to divide the s stem t o surplus subs stem probabl cont aining the fault point and separation subs stem probabl not containing the fault point. T hen we obtain the normal value and the test value of surplus performance parameter, compare them. Last l , we can determine w here is w rong and wh . Its uses in t he unusual breakdow n of automatic transmission shift , the unusual breakdow n of exhaust emissions, and the breakdown of transducer at solar term position in gasoline inject ion s stem are discussed. The test met hods under different conditions and the points for attention are put forward. The diagnosis result is confirmed.
