Knowledge Goals: 1) distinguish the words between crime and criminal 2) the phrases about “same” and “different” 3) More train for students to describe people’s appearance 2. Ability Goals: 1) Develop students’ skill of listening and reading 2) More reading exercise about appearance for students to train 3. Emotion Goals: 1) Let students pay more attentions of people around us, but not judging a person by his/ her appearance. 2) Let students know that it is helpful and important to describe a person if you ask police for help Teaching Important and Difficult Important and difficult sentence: Some people see crimes and then talk to Joe Then Joe draws a picture of the criminal Many people don’t always see things the same way so they may describe the same person differently. Teaching Methods Situational??and elicitation Teaching? 2. Activity-based teaching (individual work; group work; class work) 3. Students-centered approach Task-based teaching and learning. Teaching Aids multi-media , synchronal practice about the topic Teaching Procedures Step 1 Warm-up (3 minutes) Talk about the use of opposite word for describing people’s appearance. Step 2 Lead-in (5 minutes) Watch a video for practice listening and lead students to know that it is important to describe a person’s appearance if you want to ask police for help. Step 3 About the article of 2b Learning (20 minutes) Situational??and elicitation teaching for some difficult phrases and sentences Show three persons and let students describe them without reading first. Show some details to make sure students understand what a police artist does Ask students to read the article of 2b and answer and questions Ask students to finish Activity 2c and know what does each pronoun refer to in the article Step 3 Summary (2 mins) Sum up the emotion goal: Don’s judge a person by his appearance Step 4
