With the fact that the advancement of society and people increasing to vigorous need of humanity, the memorial architecture have caught especially notable attention at the present age. The construction of 911 memorial hall, the memorial hall of the victims in Nanjing massacre by Japanese invaders and its continuation, tsunami memorial of the Thailand all indicates that, people always hopes for a way including architecture to commemorate history, recalls forefather, enlightens the present age, education descendants. In current, technology being the most important and commerce is expanding. Accompanied by the diversity and complicated architecture phenomenon architecture and art confronted with depth and significance’s dispelling. How to search a suitable way of design procedures and theory for the present age, is the problem that all type of architecture needs to pay close attention to, is also the central question in the design of memorial architecture. The thesis aims at investigation and discussion in design of memorial architecture at the present age, it starts with its characteristics of the times, probes the pluralistic creation theory and methods, we hope it can help to some extent to the design of memorial architecture. At first, through analyzing the primal problem, developing trend, the concept of pluralistic creation, we study the necessity of it, and define the boundary of studying range. Secondly, on the basis of clear and definite concept boundary, we made a particular study on memorial architecture on the facts of type and features, history developing and the cause.
