k On the Dialogue Translation in The Yellow Storm from the Perspective of Register Analysis t. Abstract MA Candidate: Shen Chen Advisor: Sun Kaixiang Ac∞rding to regist町也ωry,in 也e process of translation,也e regist町 features of the sour,∞text should be reproduced 扭曲e 臼rget text. Since English and Chinese belong to diffi町ent language system, there is a cultural difference between 也e two languages. Ac∞rdingly, when 也e translator tries to reproduce 也e regist町 features in the source E text, he should take into account conventions and 由e linguistic structures of the target text. This thesis tends to analyze the translation of characteristic dialogues in Lao Shaws The Yellow Storm from 也ep町spective of register analysis. The con位astive analysis based on 也e regist町也叨叨 is bome out 姐也ree 部pec臼: field which illustrates 也e subject ma悦目 of the conv町sation between charact町s and motif the novel; tenor which reveals the characters and their relationships; 也ough mode of the dialogue is already limited to speaking rath町也an writing,an analysis 齿。m 也,e p町spective of rhetorical ∞nc叩,ts would be meaningful in proving its influence on 也e dialogue. Wi由 such a contrastive analysis and 也e related discussion of the 仕anslation strategies employed by the translator,the author of 也is 也esis intends to prove 也at if the register equivalence between 也e target and source text is established,也e 位朋slator text would maximally resemble 也e F sourcetext.
