Along with the collision and blending of art and commerce, great changes have taken place in the traditional art of painting status, and various new art forms are moving towards the mainstream form of transformation. Among them, the modern art of illustration has become the most common way of visual communication. In recent years, modern illustration, as a combination of art and commerce, has been in all areas of our society and more and more integrated into the Chinese art and culture. In addition, the development of digital technology has effectively promoted the development and expansion of modern illustration. This paper concentrates a lot on the history and presentation of the development of illustration art, as well as the understanding and cognition of modern illustration art. It shows that development of modern illustration not only reveals the inevitable public art development, but also meets the objective requirement of the development of market economy. At the same time the essay focuses on the differences between interpretation of illustration and the unique aesthetic characteristics and artistic form of traditional arts.
