CIRCULAR NO. 201/2006 Date 25.09.2006 To All Members Sir, Sub: Minimum Wages Act, 1948 – “Textile Industry” to be brought under the Act – Filing of Objections – Regarding Ref: 1) The G.O.Ms.No. 67 dated. 08.08.2006 of the Labour and Employment Department of Government of Tamilnadu 2) Our Circular No. 172/2006 dated 16.08.2006 3) Copy of our letter dated. 23.08.2006 4) Our Circular No. 186/2006 dated 31.08.2006 5) Our Circular No. 195/2006 dated 16.09.2006 ***** As informed in our Circular 2nd cited above, members were advised to file objections on the matter of Government attempting to bring “Textile Industry” under the clutches of the Minimum Wages Act, 1948 and accordingly, a specimen objection letter was also sent to all members. Members have overwhelmingly expressed their interest and have filed their objections and as on today 192 members have filed objections and marked copy to TASMA. The list of members not yet filed objection is enclosed herewith. This matter was critically examined during the Annual General Meeting held on 23.09.2006. The reason as to why the other mills listed in the enclosed list are not filing objections is no way able to be identified by TASMA. Hence, the other member mills not filed objections so far, can file their objections also suitably. As, only the volume of objections alone would decide the further course of action, members who have not filed objections so far, may send their objections at the earliest by marking a copy to TASMA. By the copy of the letter dated. 23.08.2006 of TASMA, our Association has also filed the objection on the issue with a more legal way. We are also going to request the other Associations like SIMA, SISSPA, Madurai Spinners Association etc., to file suitable objections in this regard. As the decision of the Government is an act detrimental to the over all interest of the Spinning Industry as a whole, we have to act very firmly on this issue. Thanking You, Yours tr
