Baker 关于强式和弱式双语教育属性划分的理论框架，探讨了中国的双语教学(育)和加拿大双语教育的教育属性，发现二者均属于强式双语教育，因此这是中、加双语教育教育(学)之间的最大可比性。 The Compatibility of the Bilingual Education of Canada and Bilingual Instruction of China. AbstractCanada is a typical bilingual country whose bilingual education programs have proved to be among the most successful ones in the world.??Since the start of this century, Chinese educational circle has witnessed an upsurge of English-Chinese bilingual instruction programs which are oriented mainly towards the raising of the English proficiency levels of the students.??Against this context the successful Canadian bilingual educational experience highlighted by the French Immersion Programs has been introduced to China.??Based on Colin Baker’s distinction between strong and weak forms of bilingualism and bilingual education as its theoretical framework, this paper explores the nature of bilingual education in each country and comes to the conclusion that the bilingual educational programs in both countries belong in the strong form of bilingual education---which features most strongly the comparability of bilingual education(instruction) of the two countries.The Compatibility of the Bilingual Education of Canada and Bilingual Instruction of China. 摘要包括中国在内的全世界都知道加拿大双语教育是开展得最为成功的。同时，中国教育界也知道中国和加拿大的双语教育国情非常不同。但二者之间是否有可比性呢？如果真的一点也没有，那么向学习加拿大双语教育的成功经验也就无从谈起。笔者认为，加拿大和中国开展双语教育有一个很大的可比性，那就是二者都是为了促进语言和文化的多样性。加拿大和美国相比，双方语言文化国情都非常相同，双方都有一个移民问题，双方都推行双语教育试图解决这个问题。加拿大使用的是“沉浸式”(Immersion),而美国则使用“淹没式”(Submersion), 前者为了文化和语言的多元化，而后者是为了文化的一元化和语言的”英语化“。向加拿大学习双语教育的经验，首先我国把英语从作为外语教学到双语教学，不管这政策制订者的初衷如何，其结果就是文化和语言的多元化。Since accession to WTO, China is confronted with an acute shortage of what are called “compound professionals”--- professionals who are experts both in their own fields and in foreign language communicatio
