Case Study 1 Solrosen Day Care Center Architecture: Stein Halvorsen Location:Kong Rings gate 17, 3510 H?nefoss, Norway Project area: 1,300 sqm Project year: 2009 Solrosen is a hub-based day care where the facilities are suited for learning in a highly valued place. Before this, the day care was a retention facility abandoned long ago. This architural design inspired from the petal of marigold flowers,Ambition of the design was inviting building, to make kindergarten a place that welcomes you whether you are a child, a parent or an employee. The idea of the day care center architectural design was from the marigold flower and it’s amazing as the center can be accessed from many places. The interior and exterior design are difficult and unique. Unlike other modern architecture and contemporary design, the day care center Felsoord facades of public space with etched glass, dressed in a manipulated photo of a base with a thatched roof. Adjacent walls could be seen in the light and covered with a grid of heat-treated pine. This network responds to the forms of straw in the glass facade and parts continued to grow, combines the old and new design.The different bases are independent zones each with specific content. The sum represents diversity where the child is challenged in different ways throughout the day. Entering the kindergarten from Kong Rings street you are led to the central circular room– the core of the building. The activities in the bases base are reflected in the design of outdoor space linked to it.The large windows provide sun light into the inside and create cohesion between outside and inside.
