ABSTRACTThe article is a case study about the wooden architectural complex of Guancheng in Jiayu Pass and also a monographic study which contains characteristic of storied buildings in Hexi region. Based on the narration of the historical evolution, feature of layout and the architectural form, craft, the value of the heritage noumenon is embodied.Jiayu Pass was built in Ming dynasty Hongwu period, and it took 168 yeas to finish its construction. It is the largest and the most well preserved pass along the Great Wall at present. As the first pass of Hexi region located in the origin of the Ming Dynasty Great Wall,it is of great military defensive importance. Overall layout, building style of the gate tower and the annex , layout of the beacon tower and the quality of the construction of the walls analyzed, all these embody its inherent value “the most magnificent pass in the world”. At the same time, with the influence from the Great Wall culture and the Silk Road, it has always been the complex of military defence and trade pass.Inside the pass, there are 3 grand gate towers built on the foundation. Plus, there are Drama Stage and Wenchang Pavilion, both well preserved. They are the best samples for the study of the storied building in Hexi region. The article gives an overview of the building style and the artistic, technological achievements of the Hexi traditional architecture and dig into its unique, inherent value.Key words：Jiayv Pass; wooden structure; characteristic of form; Hexi storied building; inherent value.目录目录................................................................................................................................
