The paper designed a face detection system based on embedded system, and realized the imaging, processing, examination, result demonstration and other functions. Since the present face image inspecting technology uses the Adaboost algorithm generally, The paper first introduced the Haar characteristics, the integral image, sorter as well as the cascade sorter Adaboost algorithm in detail, then using a combination FPGA+ARM as the hardware platform of system which significantly improved the processing speed of the system, and compatibility, meanwhile, carried on the optimized processing of Image acquisition. Through the ping-pong operation to the buffer of image, the image acquisition efficiency and the timeliness of image processing was greatly improved. By transplants the embedded Linux operation tradition which has the merits of open source, small size and scalable to the ARM embedded system, Strengthened the processing complex situation ability of system.
