The introduction of water splashing Water-Splashing, held every year, during which the Dais splash water on one another, and hold dragon boat races in the hope of chasing away all the illnesses and bad fortune of the past year and bringing about good weather and bumper harvests. This years Water Splashing Festival celebrates New Year number 1,373 on the ethnic Dai calendar. And this year marks the 50th anniversary of the time former Premier Zhou En lai joined the Water Splashing Festival of 1961. There will be 51 performing groups, 12 floats, and about 6,000 actors participating. Including local performance teams from Xishuangbanna, the parade will show the variety of culture that exists within the Dai ethnic group. The main difference of this year, compared with before, is to add a 10-thousand-people dance. The 10-thousand-people dance mainly refers to all people singing and dancing together to show the beautiful Xishuangbanna.
