Therefore it provides the topic situation for the next parts. This lesson is about a diary which is written in the simple past tense. It told an experience that happened to Paul. While his father and he were waiting for the ferry. Three young men stole a lady’s purse. AT first he thought his father was afraid of the bad men. But in the end he found out that his father called the police and the three young men were caught by the police. This article not only teaches students how and when to use the past tense, but also teaches students to be a brave man and dare to let justice prevail. So this lesson plays an important role. This lesson also includes the following knowledge points. First, learn the simple past form of some verbs primarily. Second, learn the uses of some new words, such as “shout at, hold out, stare at”. II. Analyze students’ situation The students are in Grade Eight. So most students have grasped a large number of words. And they have formed their own way to learn English. But for a small amount of students, it not true. So during the teaching, I should notice this. What’s more, Junior 8 students are still active and curious. The colorful pictures and situational teaching environment can still stimulate their enthusiasm. And at the same time they are also beginning to form logical thinking ability. III. Teaching objectives 1. Knowledge objectives (1) Learn how to write a diary. (2) Grasp the simple past tense of some verbs. (3) Learn the uses of some new words and phrases, such as hold out, stare at, be in handcuffs etc. 2. Ability objectives (1) Can state a story in simple past tense (2) Cultivate students’ ability to do some extensive reading 3.
