Parental Involvement in Chinese Children’s English Acquisition 嘉华学院语言与传播系 英语071班 0732138 钟若芸 Ⅰ.Introduction In China, children’s English learning had already become a trend, and the age of the children who start studying English become younger and younger. This paper analyses the feasibility of parental involvement in Chinese children’s English acquisition and presents the current situation in this filed on the base of some SLA theories. And we try to put forward some suggestions to improve the parental involvement in Chinese children’s English acquisition. Ⅱ. Literature Review 2.1. Theories about SLA There are two common theories about SLA : The first one is behaviorism. The second one is Mentalism 2.2. Some Factors Influential to SLA There are many factors influential to SLA, and several important ones relating to this thesis are showed: age motivation input Ⅲ.Feasibility of Parental Involvement in Children’s SLA 3.1. Feasibility as far as Children’s Language Acquisition Ability is Concerned 3.2. Feasibility as far as Age is Concerned 3.3.Feasibility as far as Acquisition is Concerned 3.4.Feasibility as far as Motivation is Concerned Ⅳ. Current Situation and some problems of Parental Involvement in Chinese Children’s Complying with the increasingly popularity of English in China, and the age of children who start learning becomes younger and younger, many bilingual kindergartens and children English training organization were set up. Among these kindergartens and educational organizations, the good and bad are intermingled, and the most of them lack high quality teachers or massive pedagogical theories support. Only a few have sound education system and fairly good teaching effectiveness. Ⅴ. Suggestions Integrating English into Daily Life.
