It is also the essential link linking people and society. With the rapid development of our countrys economy and the remarkable improvement of peoples living standard, the consumers psychology and behavior have changed a lot. Influenced by the unreasonable consumerism of the society, conspicuous consumption appeared to the special group of college students who receive higher education. In fact, conspicuous consumers do pay attention to the mental requests of conspicuous consumption rather than the actual utility value of the products and the satisfaction of basic demanding. They emphasize on showing off his own wealth, social status and identity to meet their purpose of conspicuous consumption. Firstly, the thesis explained the meaning of conspicuous consumption and the characteristics of it. Then, it analyzed the current situation of conspicuous consumption of our whole consumers and college students. Secondly, it analyzed the reason of college students conspicuous consumption and the bad influence from society, economy and culture, Therefore, all of the society, the colleges and the families should take active measures to lead correct consumption, helping the students develop scientific consuming ideas, and promoting consuming behavior more rational. At the same time, guiding healthy consumption is of great theoretical and practical importance for promoting both overall development of students and society progress.
