In 1986 he applied SPECT, combining both interictal and ictal studies to the protocol of pre-surgical evaluation of refractory epilepsy, which pioneered work for image based localisation of epileptogenic region. Chrysostomos (Tomis) P. Panayiotopoulos Dr. Chrysostomos P. Panayiotopoulos (MD, PhD) is an eminent neurologist in the field of the epilepsies. Panayiotopoulos syndrome is named after him. He is currently Consultant emeritus at St. Thomas Hospital in London, where he has served over the last 20 years as a Consultant in Clinical Neurophysiology and Epilepsies. Prior to this, he has been appointed Clinical Professor of Neurology, University of Colorado and Head and Professor of Neurology, University of Riyadh. He has also been an invited Associate Professor to Harvard University and Professor to the University of Western Australia.
