Polarimeters, comprised a rotating quarter wave plate and a polarizer, are widely used to analyze the polarization states of light. And it has advantages in distinguishing the none-, partially- and totally polarized light. However since the deviations of the parameters of optical components from 25 ideal values, the errors in final results are normally inevitable. Here, we will do the analysis about the measurement errors caused by the imperfect phase delay and axial orientation of the wave plate. Our results could be used in the design of the polarimeters and their performance evaluations.
