范文呈现： Should we compare ourselves with others? Nowadays many people advise us to compare ourselves with others. They say, for example, “you should be like yur father.” or “ you should do as well as others do.” In my own opinion,it is a beneficial way(有益的方式) of reflection and we should compare ourselves with others to make progress, to find out our weakness, to fit in with (适应；与...一致)the competitive outside world.（我们要与别人作比较才能取得进步，才能找到自己的弱点，才能更好地适应这个竞争激烈的社会。） The first reason to explain my view is that we can make progress continuously through this way of thinking. It is a fact that there is always someone better than us. By comparing with him or her,we can learn that we have not done as well as we can or we could have worked harder. Then we will set a higher goal and make greater efforts to achieve it. By doing so , we fulfill our potentials better（使潜能得到更好地发展）, overcome our laziness(克服懒惰) and conceit（幻想）, and make constant progress（取得不断进步）. In contrast, without comparing with others, we would probably be satisfied with and remain what we are, leaving our potentials go to waste（浪费）.（相反，不与他人比较，我们就可能满足以维持现状荒废自己的潜能。） The second reason to compare ourselves with others is that it helps us to realize our weaknesses more easily. Though everybody has his own strong and weak points, we tend to be better aware of the former and rather blind to（视而不见；忽视） the latter when looking at ourselves. In many cases, we can not see our own shortcomings until we compare ourselves with others.
