This work is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution International License (CC BY). /licenses/by/4.0/ Open Access Abstract An important objective of the Interpreting Courses of MTI is to train future professional interpre- ters. Professionalization requires the students to be fully aware of the role of the interpreters and to implement this idea in their jobs in the future. This paper firstly reviews the role of the inter- preters in the literature. It then analyzes the text the students made in interpretation in class, which shows the understanding of the role of the interpreters. Based on literature review and the awareness of the role of the interpreters by the students, the author proposed some of the possi- ble ways to train the students with better awareness of the role of interpreters.
