Correspondent: KONG We-i xue, E-mail: kong w eixue @ sina. com) - Abstract: As shown in the theor of generalized plastic mechanics, the associated flow rule is just a particular case of non-associated flow rule. It is proved theoreticall that in respect of non- associated flow rule the angle included b velocit vector and failure plane is instead of / 2 that is usuall used now , thus clarif ing the misunderstanding on the tw o different flow rules in the theor of slip line field. Furthermore, the FEM limit anal sis also proves that the stress slip line, ultimate load and velocit slip line are all the same if the are obtained b either associated or non- associated flow rule, but onl the velocit vector shows difference.
