Methods: Immunohistochemistry ( SP method) w as applied to obser e the expression of ascular endo- thelial gr ow th factor ( VEGF) and micro essel density ( MVD) in the illi from the URSA patients and normal controls. Results: T he illi of the URSA patients w ere underde elopment, and the expression of VEGF and a er age M VD in the illi of the U RSA patients was decr eased significantly w hen compared w ith that of the control group. There w as a positi e correlation of the expression of VEGF w ith M VD in both groups. Conclusions: There is an association betw een the occurrence of the URSA and the low expression of VEGF, M VD and the underde elopment of the illi. The insufficient blood supply to the embryonic tissue may be the main immediate cause of abortion.
